Note: Attempt ALL question. Assume suitable data if necessary.

Attempt any four parts of the following:
  1. Consider an N-channel MOSFET with NA= 3 x 1016/cm3 and tox = 450o A. Let L = 1.25μm and assume that rj = 0.5μm. Calculate the threshold voltage shift due to short channel effect.
  2. Explain the term "self aligned gate". What is the requirement of self aligned gate? How it is achieved.
  3. A MOS transistor has threshold voltage of 0.85 V. The body effect coefficient γ = 0.64. Calculate the threshold voltage for VSB = 4V and 2φF = -0.58 V.
  4. What do you understand by strong inversion in MOSFET?
  5. Explain the electrical properties of the MOSFET, CMOS and BCMOS.
  6. What is pass transistor? Explain with suitable example.
Attempt any four parts of the following:
  1. Explain the CMOS static transfer characteristics.
  2. Derive the total power consumption in CMOS inverter.
  3. Calculate the noise margin of CMOS inverter with VDD = 5V, VTon = 1v, VTop = -1V, k= 210A/V2,  Kp= 210 A/V2.
  4. Calculate the average propagation delay of a symmetric CMOS inverter with C=0 1pF. Given that K= 210 A/V2 and W/L =4
  5. Design X-OP and X-NOR logic gates using CMOS transmission logic gates.
  6. What is stick diagram? Draw the circuit diagram and coloured stick diagram of 2-input CMOS NAND gate.
Attempt any two parts of the following:
  1. Draw and explain the SR latch using CMOS devices and based on NAND logic. Also draw the colored stick diagram.
  2. Write a short note on skew-tolerant Domino Circuits and OTB Domino.
  3. With CMOS transistor circuit design, explain the READ/WRITE operation of static RAM cell.
Attempt any two parts of the following:
  1. What is PLA? What are the different type array structures of PLA? Explain.
  2. Design and implement the following multiple output combinational circuits using PAL.
    (i) Full subtractor and full adder
    (ii) Excess-3 to BCD code convertor.
  3. Discuss the different application and advantages of FPGA. What are different components of a simple Xilinx FPGA?
Attempt any two parts of the following:
  1. Define and explain the following
    (i) LFSR
    (ii) BILBO
    (iii) signature analyser
    (iv) controllability and observability
  2. What is the need of VLSI testing? Describe the VLSI testing procedure.
  3. Explain stuck at models with component level circuit in detail.
