Attempt any four questions
  1. Suppose an electric field

    is as given then determine the following:
    (i) E at P if P (r = 0.8, Ø=30o, θ=45)
    (ii) |E| at p.
    (iii) A unit vector in direction of E at P.
  2. State and prove Gauss-Divergence theorem. Also comment on its physical significance with respect to flux in flow in a spherical conductor?
  3. A solenoid 50 cm long, 2 cm in diameter and contains 1500 turns. The cylindrical core has a diameter of 2 cm and a relative permeability of 75. This coil being coaxial with a second solenoid, also 50cm long, but with a 3 cm diameter and 1200 turns. Calculate
    (i) L for the inner solenoid
    (ii) L for the outer solenoid
    (iii) M between the two solenoid?
  4. Discuss the problem wave propagation in free space and also obtain the value for intrinsic impedance?
  5. Given a non-magnetic material with
    Er = 3.2, σ = 1.5 x 10-4 S/m. Evaluate the values of
    (i) loss-tangent (ii) attenuation constant (iii) phase constant (iv) intrinsic impedance?
  6. Discuss pointing vector and pointing theorem. Also describe its significance with respect to power calculate for plane wave propagation?

  1.  List the operating characteristics for the following display technologies: raster refresh system, vector refresh system, plasma panel and LCD.
  2. How much time is spent scanning across each row of pixels during screen refresh on a raster system with a resolution of 1280 by 1024 and a refresh rate of frames per second?
  3. Implement the polynomial function using the DDA algorithm, given any number (n) of input points is to be plotted when n=1.
  4. Implement the line type function by modifying Bresenham's line drawing algorithm to display either solid, dashed, or dotted lines. 
  5. List some applications appropriate for each of the display technologies.
  6. List the different input and output components that are typically used with virtual reality systems. Also explain how users interact with a virtual scene displayed with different output devices.

  5. Draw the circuit of balanced modulator using  FETs. Explain its operation in mode 1 and mode 2.
  6. Explain square law diode modulation method for AM generation. In an AM system, the modulating signal is sinusoidal with frequency f Hz. If 70%  modulation is used, then find the ratio of total sideband power in the modulation signal to the total power in the modulation signal to the total power.
